In November 2023, La Table des Amis de Provence offered “Market shopping, cooking class and lunch at Atelier Laurel” to members and friends.

The experience would consist of touring the charming Fontvieille marché, shopping for a few of the ingredients and then a short walk (5 minutes) to the well-equipped kitchen to get to cooking the menu of the day. We'll cook together for about 2.5 hours before sitting down for lunch to enjoy the fruits of your labor... Recipes would be in English and French. To maximize your chance of participating, she is spreading the classes over a Friday and a Monday with the aim being to fill the Friday 3 November class first. In Stephanie’s own words: I’m a California girl living in the south of France after leaving a nearly decade-long career at Waymo (Google’s self-driving car company) to pursue my dream of becoming a chef After deciding to make the switch into the culinary world, I completed an intensive culinary program and earned a diploma at Ferrandi, Paris. After graduation, I began working in restaurants to get used to life on the line. This journey ultimately led me to Provence, working under chef Glenn Viel at the 3-star l’Oustau Baumanier. Under a piercingly blue sky, my ears ringing with the songs of cigales, it was then that I decided I had found the perfect setting to create Atelier Laurel I look forward to sharing with you the techniques, stories and flavors which I’ve learned and collected along the way. Editors note: Stephanie would not be returning to California anytime soon. She is a newlywed whose spouse is from a family with deep roots in vines and agriculture near Nimes.
