Hybrid Rice: Seminar, Lunch and Field Trip

In October 2022, La Table des Amis de Provence offered “Hybrid Rice: Seminar, Lunch and Field Trip” to members and friends.

Jean-Yves is a semi-retired “expert compatible” whose travels (often by hitch hiking) have taken him around the world and he has been thoroughly immersed in China for some 25 years. That immersion with its many high level contacts led to a collaboration near Tarascon where hybrid rice from China has been planted using Chinese technology and equipment. Following the briefing, we would adjourn for a no host lunch (venue to be determined) after which we would visit the rice fields to see the harvesting process.
