In November 2025, La Table des Amis de Provence offered “Gigondas wine tasting and buffet” to members and friends.
We have attended many times in the past and have found this to be a great event to kick off the festive season. The Chavet family has a long -standing tradition of winemaking in the southern Rhône Valley of France. Their estate, Domaine du Grapillon d’Or, is located in the renowned village of Gigondas, which sits at the foot of the dramatic Dentelles de Montmirail mountains. The name "Le Grapillon d’Or" translates to "The Little Golden Grape Cluster," reflecting their commitment to quality and the golden promise of each harvest. Gigondas is one of the most esteemed appellations in the southern Rhône Valley. Often referred to as the "little brother" of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Gigondas has its own distinct identity. The region’s rocky soils, combined with the cool breezes from the mountains, allow for a long growing season and slow ripening of grapes, resulting in wines with remarkable freshness and complexity. Catering is by Chez Serge of Carpentras , a highly regarded restaurant which specializes in wine and truffle menus. There would be a crowd so we would gather in their parking area by 11h15 to ensure that we are the first to enjoy the hospitality of the Chauvet family and then take our leave before it becomes elbow to elbow.
