The Chartreuse massif, located between the towns of Chambéry and Grenoble, is an exceptional natural site . It is also a place steeped in history and traditions. Not least, it is the home of the Chartreuse elixir which the monks have been distilling since1064.
Our stay is weeklong which gives us a chance to thoroughly explore this rather isolated part of France. We will plan market visits, hikes, mountain restaurants and historical sites.
A teaser - the author of the book pictured above will be leading our hikes. Jean-Claude Garnier’s book is available for advance purchase at FNAC or the book will be available at our apéro with JC and his charming wife
Jacqueline on 21 September at their chalet in St-Pierred’Entrement. In either case, you will have a signed copy.
Hotels are scarce, chalet rentals are aplenty and we have homed in on the village of St-Pierre-d’Entremont as our base for discovering the massif.
A day to day itinerary is in the planning stages but you will want to secure your chalet well in advance to be sure we are all in close proximity to St-Pierre-d’Entremont. AirBnB and Booking.com list numerous chalets and some hotel like accommodations.
Further details including a list of recommended chalets available for the week of 21-28 September will be sent to those who register for this event.
This will be a “pay as you go” event, the only charge from La Table des Amis being a 25€ per person registration fee (30€ for nonmembers).
Group size will be limited to a maximum of 16 participants.
This event has been organized by La Table des Amis de Provence, a non-profit association that connects wine and food lovers to a table of friends.
Membership fees: 15 € single, 25 € couples
